Cookie Policy
Effective date: July 1, 2026
1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Shoutcast, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on shotucastnet.com and within the Shoutcast streaming audience-retention analytics platform (collectively, the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Shoutcast is a B2B analytics platform. Cookies on the public marketing site (shotucastnet.com) are used for site function and basic usage measurement. Cookies within the logged-in dashboard are used to maintain your authenticated session and remember account-level preferences.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow us to recognise your device, maintain session state, store preferences, and measure usage. We also use related technologies such as local storage for the cookie-banner dismissal state.
3. How We Use Cookies
| Category | Examples | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | session token, CSRF protection, cookie-banner dismissal state | session - 12 months |
| Preferences | dashboard layout, plan display preference (monthly/annual toggle) | up to 12 months |
| Analytics | self-hosted anonymized usage measurement (page views, feature-use patterns) | up to 13 months |
| Marketing | not currently used | - |
We do not use cookies to deliver targeted advertising. Analytics cookies on shotucastnet.com are anonymized before storage and are not used to build individual user profiles.
4. Notice and Choice
When you first visit the Service, a notice banner informs you that cookies are in use. By continuing to use the Service, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described above. You may opt out of analytics cookies at any time through the cookie preference link in the footer, or by configuring your browser.
5. Universal Opt-Out Signals
Where applicable state law requires (e.g., California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon), we honour browser-transmitted opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") for sale and targeted-advertising categories. Because we do not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising, a GPC signal has the effect of confirming our default practice rather than triggering a change in data handling.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies may be set by third parties acting as our service providers (for example, our payment processor during checkout, or our hosting infrastructure). We have data-processing agreements with such providers that limit their use of any data collected.
7. Managing Cookies
- Use the cookie preference link in the footer of any page to reopen the notice and opt out of analytics.
- Browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies; see aboutcookies.org for browser-specific instructions.
- Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent the Shoutcast dashboard from maintaining your session.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our cookie practices. The effective date above will be updated to reflect any material change.
